Kassandra Thompson M.S., LPC, NCC Hello and welcome. My name is Kassandra Thompson, and I am a Licensed Professional Counselor and National Board-Certified Counselor in the state of Texas. I earned my Bachelor’s degree in Psychology and my Master’s degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from the University of Texas at San Antonio. My passion for mental health comes from both personal experiences and years of witnessing the strength and resilience people show while navigating life’s challenges. I believe that personal growth—while often difficult—is also deeply meaningful and transformative. It is a privilege to support individuals as they move toward healing, insight, and lasting change. Originally from Wyoming, I have lived in the San Antonio area since 2015. Adjusting from below-zero winters to Texas heat took some time, but I have come to appreciate the community and opportunities this area offers. I am also a parent to two children—a son and a daughter—who bring both chaos and tremendous joy into my life. Being a parent has given me a deep appreciation for the complexities of family life and the challenges that parents and children face while growing and evolving together. In my practice, I provide counseling for adolescents (ages 13 and older) and adults experiencing a variety of mental health concerns. I work with individuals facing anxiety, depression, trauma and PTSD, severe trauma, mood disorders including Bipolar Disorder and Borderline Personality Disorder, anger, stress, self-esteem concerns, life transitions, and relationship or family conflict. My therapeutic approach is collaborative and tailored to each individual client. While I frequently utilize Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), I draw from multiple evidence-based approaches to ensure that therapy fits the unique needs and experiences of each person. I believe therapy should never be a one-size-fits-all process; instead, it should adapt to the individual and the circumstances they are navigating. I also have a strong understanding of relationship dynamics, family systems, and the complexities surrounding separation and divorce, particularly when children are involved. My professional interest is often focused on helping parents and adolescents navigate the emotional and relational challenges that occur during and after divorce. These transitions can be incredibly difficult for children and teens, and my goal is to support families in creating healthier communication, boundaries, and co-parenting strategies that prioritize the well-being of the children involved. Through this work, I help clients build greater emotional awareness, communication skills, and healthy coping strategies that allow them to navigate complex family dynamics while maintaining stability and support for their children. One of the most important aspects of therapy is the therapeutic relationship itself. Building trust, safety, and genuine connection provides the foundation for meaningful change. I value authenticity, honesty, and creating an environment where clients feel comfortable being open and truly themselves. If you are reading this, you have already taken an important and courageous step toward growth and healing. At times life can feel overwhelming, uncertain, or out of balance. At other times, we simply want greater clarity, self-understanding, or support during difficult transitions. Whatever brings you to counseling, your reasons are valid and deserving of support.
