Therapy looks different for many people and I will collaborate with you on what therapy can look like for us together. I often use therapeutic approaches such as existentialism, psychodynamic theory, Gestalt therapy, person-centered therapy, mindfulness, somatic meditation, and the works of Dr. Brené Brown. I find that these modalities target a variety of emotionally charged lived experiences, and aim to uncover the core of many personal issues. While many personal themes arise and unravel within therapy, I mostly work with clients who are experiencing difficulties related to identity development, family dynamics, personal relationships, depression, anxiety, trauma, and adjusting to life’s circumstance. The overarching aims of therapy can be boiled down to two main goals: that you - as my client - feel as comfortable and safe in the therapeutic setting as possible, and second, that you gain awareness of yourself and how you interact with the world. We will spend time talking about what is important to you in your life, and also focus on the therapeutic relationship between us, as our relationship can be a window through which we can view other significant relationships in your life. I will see you as a whole person, as opposed to a collection of symptoms and diagnoses, or fragmented parts of self… we will work to create more meaning in your life and self-acceptance… through that process, change can unfold.
