As a Black woman, and mother, who has lived experience with racial discrimination and profiling, code switching has been the story of my life. “How do I fit in?” and “where do I fit in?” were my central struggles. Personally and professionally, the biggest challenge was noticing that I had to act a certain way to be accepted in certain spaces, and even amidst the performativeness, my value went unnoticed. This suppressed my ability to work with my clients in the way that I wanted, ever vigilant about the implications of being my full self. I wanted the ability to show up in all fullness as a healer, dedicated to justice, freedom, and choice as central tenets of my practice. That’s why I founded Healing Well, LLC. As my client, when you sit with me, you can be sure that I am showing up as my full authentic self, with a spirit of collaboration so that you feel “safe enough” to do the same. The core of my therapeutic view is “what happened to you,” rather than “what is wrong with you” and this shift, though subtle, makes a major difference in how we move through our work together. I am well-trained and utilize a trauma-informed approach, specifically in working with women who have experienced trauma as a child and/or adult, including survivors of sexual assault or abuse, and victims of racial and intergenerational trauma. I also focus on treating individuals struggling with depression, anxiety, relationship issues, grief, narcissistic abuse and recovery, and complex life issues. There is nothing like sitting across from a therapist who you do not have to educate about all your experiences. Conversations about racial and intergenerational trauma have a place here. The heaviness that comes with sexual assault and narcissistic abuse, have a place here. If you are BIPOC/PGM or LGBTQIA2S+ this is your therapeutic home. Let us begin your journey to Healing Well.
