Catherine “Katie” LaBar, LPCC-S, is a Licensed Professional Clinical Counselor Supervisor who is passionate about providing compassionate, evidence-based mental health care to children, adolescents, adults, and families. She earned her Master of Education (M.Ed.) in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from Kent State University and her Bachelor of Arts in Psychology with a minor in Criminology and Criminal Justice from The Ohio State University. Katie has extensive experience in community mental health and outpatient settings, providing individual, family, and group counseling for individuals experiencing anxiety, depression, trauma, post-traumatic stress disorder, behavioral concerns, and anger. She is trained in a variety of therapeutic approaches, including Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), Motivational Interviewing (MI), Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR), and Trauma-Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (TF-CBT), allowing her to tailor treatment to each client's unique needs and goals. Katie believes that one of the most important parts of effective counseling is the therapeutic relationship. She strives to create a safe, supportive, and nonjudgmental environment where clients feel genuinely heard, understood, and empowered to make meaningful changes in their lives. As an active and empathic listener, Katie works collaboratively with each client to identify their strengths, develop practical coping skills, and build resilience. She has a particular passion for helping individuals heal from trauma and develop the tools they need to move forward with confidence and greater emotional well-being. Katie's ultimate goal is to provide high-quality, individualized care that helps clients achieve lasting growth and greater independence while reducing their need for ongoing therapeutic support.
