A lot of people view therapy as a means of fixing something that is “wrong,” but what if there is another way to view this process? What if, instead of focusing on what is “wrong,” we focus instead on what is right? What if instead of viewing something, or someone, or ourselves as things to be “fixed,” we instead view them as an opportunity to unlock a new strength, a new understanding of life, or a new way of being? My name is Katimah Harper, and I am a Licensed Master Social Worker (LMSW) at Empathy First Clinical Counseling. My clinical experience includes working with adolescents, adults, older adults, caregivers, and foster/adopted youth. I practice a person-centered, strengths-based, and trauma-informed approach with my clients to navigate the difficulties life can present, and I believe in the power of a safe space for nonjudgmental listening to foster transformational change. Whether you are experiencing depression, anxiety, grief, caregiver-related stress, or any other challenges, I believe that everyone has the capacity and ability to overcome their circumstance. I am committed to doing this work together with compassion, respect, and empathy, and I hope that you will reach out when you are ready to explore a new way of living.
