As a therapist, I believe the therapeutic relationship is a modern take on an ancient need – whether we sought guidance in the not-so-distant past from a community elder, shaman, priest, or traditional medicine practitioner – humans have always needed a space where we can find a similar sense of meaning and relation to others. If you are feeling stuck, struggling to feel compassion, or want to make sense of how the edges of your life weave into the fabric of others, I would love to work with you. My style is patient, slow, and shaped by active curiosity and creativity. I draw from previous work in community mental health with Asian Americans and international students, youth with developmental delays, and neurodivergent adolescents in addition to my lived experiences as a queer, nonbinary person of color. These experiences have given me a well-suited perspective to help youth and adults alike access states of play and wonder, ways of being that are crucial for self-discovery. I am guided by Psychodynamic Psychotherapy, Narrative Therapy, and Acceptance and Commitment Theory, which examine and embrace all the identities and people we bring into the room with us each time we imagine change. My background as a tea ceremony host and spiritual interest in East Asian philosophy have also given me useful tools to help you focus on the quiet power of mindfulness, performance, and gratitude in everyday life. Wherever you are in life, we can approach things one step at a time.
