Hi, I'm Kelsey. I've worked as a counselor in private practice since 2019. In the last seven years I've had experience working with teens and young adults facing challenges of different kinds. In an effort to "find my niche," I've worked with perfectionistic students, dedicated athletes, young professionals in helping fields, people experiencing grief, and those exploring what they believe or the spiritual backgrounds they come from. At different points, I've tried to narrow my practice to one particular group or concern. What I've learned instead is that I like variety. The common thread in my work isn't necessarily the people I see, but what they are navigating. Often, for my clients, something in life has changed or is changing. That change may bring stress or anxiety to the surface, challenge an old way of understanding oneself, contribute to hopelessness or disconnection in relationships, show up through physical symptoms that disrupt daily life, or intensify previously effective, but unsustainable ways of coping. I offer my clients a steady, warm, compassionate presence in the face of change and its associated challenges. I intentionally keep a small caseload, which allows me to invest deeply in the people I work with. My approach to counseling is integrative and collaborative. I draw from different theories and approaches but try not to let any specific framework become more important than the person sitting in front of me. I believe we each have a temperament and a particular way of moving through the world, further shaped by our relationships, experiences, losses, and sometimes trauma. Rather than assuming there is one explanation for how you feel or one prescribed path forward, I want us to remain curious together about who are, what has shaped you, and what might be helpful now. I offer a free 15-minute phone consultation that will allow me to expand on my approach & help you feel fully informed before scheduling your first session.
