Kelsey is a Licensed Mental Health Therapist who provides individual therapy with a special interest in supporting individuals who have experienced trauma, violence, and other difficult or life-changing experiences. She understands that healing is deeply personal and strives to create a safe, compassionate environment where clients can feel heard, supported, and empowered throughout the therapeutic process. Kelsey earned her Bachelor’s degree in Psychology from South Dakota State University and her Master’s degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from Western Illinois University. Her professional experience has allowed her to work with individuals facing a wide range of complex circumstances, including trauma, substance use, relationship difficulties, and significant life stressors. Prior to joining Elevate Minds Psychiatry, Kelsey worked as a substance abuse counselor within a residential treatment setting. She also completed her clinical practicum and internship with Family Resources in Davenport, Iowa, where she worked within the Survivor Services department. In this role, Kelsey provided support to both children and adults impacted by sexual assault, domestic violence, human trafficking, homicide, and other forms of violence and traumatic experiences. These experiences have shaped Kelsey’s compassionate, trauma-informed approach to therapy and her understanding that trauma can affect many areas of a person’s life—including relationships, emotional well-being, sense of safety, trust, and self-worth. She works collaboratively with clients to help them better understand their experiences, recognize their strengths, develop effective coping strategies, and move toward healing at a pace that feels right for them. Kelsey is also completing additional training in Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR), an evidence-based therapeutic approach commonly used in the treatment of trauma and other distressing life experiences. As she continues developing this specialization, she is committed to expanding the tools she can offer clients while providing thoughtful, individualized care. Above all, Kelsey believes clients deserve a therapeutic space where they can feel safe without feeling defined by what they have experienced. She considers it a privilege to walk alongside individuals as they work toward healing, greater confidence, healthier relationships, and a renewed sense of hope for the future.
