As a licensed psychologist in New York and New Jersey, I offer remote individual psychotherapy to adults. My approach is collaborative, and you are an active partner in designing your personal goals. I individualize treatment based on presenting concerns/needs as well as my clients’ unique background and history (including specific life events, aspirations, cultural and societal factors, personal belief systems, and intersections of various social identities). Based on my training and experience in a variety of treatment modalities, including CBT, DBT, and Psychodynamic Psychotherapy, I use an integrative approach to help you reach your personal goals, which may involve learning skills to manage life’s difficulties and developing greater understanding of yourself. I have more than 15 years of experience working in a wide variety of healthcare and mental health settings, including medical and psychiatric hospitals, a day treatment center, and schools. As a trained pianist and a Licensed Creative Arts Therapist, I also incorporate creativity and artistic expression in my practice. My specialties include mood and anxiety disorders, PTSD, neurodevelopmental disorders (e.g., ASD, ADHD), and issues related to cultural diversity (e.g., LGBTQIA+, race and ethnicity, Asian American mental health, immigration). In my practice, I strive to create a safe, respectful, and nonjudgmental space for my clients, and to build an authentic connection through a trusting relationship. As a native of Japan, I am bilingual in Japanese and English, and offer services in both languages. If you feel I might be a good fit for your needs, please send me an email or give me a call. I look forward to hearing from you.
