Greetings! My name is Keshia Cameron, and I am a psychotherapist with a Master’s in Community Health Education and a Master’s in Social Work. Additionally, I hold a certification in Financial Social Work, where I provide one-on-one counseling and education to help individuals understand and manage their finances effectively. This includes budgeting, debt management, and savings strategies. I have over 10 years of experience working with diverse populations in an academic setting. As a former academic advisor, advocate, and retention specialist, I support college students who require extra academic and socio-emotional assistance to continue their studies. I utilize strengths-based approaches, CBT, and motivational interviewing techniques to build relationships with my students. I believe in the importance of seeking resources to address mental health gaps for underrepresented students of color. I examine the impact of the stigmatization of mental health in Afro-Caribbean communities and facilitate workshops for college students on the significance of addressing their mental health needs. I believe that everyone should use their experiences as life lessons to become better individuals for themselves and their communities. Furthermore, I focus on these strengths and resilience to address any generational trauma that may have affected an individual’s physical, financial, spiritual, and mental well-being. My goal is to adopt a non-judgmental approach and conversational style to create a safe, secure, and healing space.
