Kimberly Myers, MA, LPC, is a Licensed Professional Counselor with 18 years of experience working primarily with adolescents. She currently serves at a therapeutic day school, supporting students who struggle to succeed in mainstream classrooms, and also works with the YWCA to help children in grades K–2 strengthen their reading skills. Kimberly’s areas of specialization include trauma-informed care, adolescent mental health, the Adolescent Community Reinforcement Approach (A-CRA), self-esteem development, substance use counseling, Motivational Interviewing, and suicide risk assessment and intervention. She has also provided counseling services for adults and young children, offering a broad perspective on family and developmental needs. Her therapeutic style integrates evidence-based treatment interventions with a Strength-Based and Person-Centered approach. Kimberly believes that adolescence can be an especially challenging time, and her own experiences as a teenager inspired her to become the kind of counselor she once needed. She is known for her ability to build strong, genuine connections with youth and for creating a safe, supportive space where clients can learn to self-regulate, find balance, and grow toward their best selves. Kimberly earned her Bachelor of Science in Psychology from Southern Illinois University Edwardsville and her Master of Arts in Professional Counseling from Lindenwood University. She is a Licensed Professional Counselor in Illinois with experience providing clinical services to individuals diagnosed with depression, anxiety disorders, Post-traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD), Attention-Deficit/Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD), Borderline Personality Disorder (BPD), Mood Dysregulation Disorder, Oppositional Defiant Disorder (ODD), and Substance Use Disorder. She is also skilled in working with clients presenting with dual diagnoses and learning disabilities. Kimberly’s clinical focus centers on helping clients identify their inherent strengths, enhance emotional regulation, build resilience, and develop the coping strategies needed to improve overall functioning and quality of life. Outside of her clinical work, Kimberly enjoys spending time outdoors—especially hiking—and finds grounding through yoga. She has a deep appreciation for art, often expressing herself through charcoal drawing and watercolor painting. Kimberly also loves settling into a cozy coffee shop on rainy days with a good book or exploring new research on the intersection of mental health and education. She values time with friends and her close-knit family, whose support and connection continually inspire her both personally and professionally.
