Are there things that you experienced in the past that get in the way of your life even though you've tried hard to "move forward?" Do you worry a lot or often find yourself on edge, waiting for the next bad thing to happen? Welcome! I'm Kirsten, a Licensed Professional Clinical Counselor (ND) with 15 years of experience treating trauma and anxiety. I'd love to help! You can find me at my office, In Practice Counseling PLLC. My clients often start therapy because of feeling overwhelmed or having past pain interrupt building new opportunities and relationships. After working together, clients often begin to feel more confident, empowered and present. My favorite areas of focus are helping adults with PTSD and complex trauma, anxiety, grief and life changes. I also have specialized experience with and feel passionate about people healing after interpersonal harm (such as physical or sexual abuse, neglect, domestic violence). My practice is collaborative and includes evidence-based interventions such as CBT, EMDR, self-compassion, and mindfulness-based strategies. Why the name "In Practice Counseling?" Honoring the practice of being human, not perfect. The practice of being more present and less worried. The practice of building trust in ourselves. The practice of facing challenges with intention. The practice of healing generational patterns. A nod to the fact that life often seems to go one way in theory... and a different way in practice.
