Introduction

Kristen is a graduate of Western Carolina University, where she earned her Bachelor of Science in Psychology, followed by a Master of Social Work. She has remained in the Western North Carolina mountains, which have strongly shaped her personal and professional journey. Kristen brings experience in crisis services, residential treatment with adolescents ages 12–17, and community-based mental health settings. Her clinical focus centers on supporting individuals through major life transitions, with particular emphasis on perinatal mental health from pregnancy through the first year postpartum and beyond, including the mental and emotional challenges associated with breastfeeding and infant feeding. She also works with adolescents, college-aged individuals, and young adults, supporting concerns such as anxiety, trauma, communication and boundary setting, grounding techniques, and coping skills. Kristen has specialized training in Trauma-Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, HRSA Behavioral Health Workforce Education and Training, and holds a Maternal Mental Health Certificate through Postpartum Support International.
