Introduction

Hello. I help couples who long to talk and listen to each other differently, and individuals who are ready to heal — especially their attachment wounds. For example, in the case of couples, I've helped clients notice and begin dialoguing with parts of themselves who get in their own way, such as self-sabotaging with their partner by being critical, defensive, and/or emotionally unavailable. I've then helped clients listen to this self-sabotaging part's unmet needs -- such as its need for acceptance, connection, security, etc. What we often learn from parts is that the ways they go about trying to meet their needs unfortunately often creates the very thing they fear. In the case of a part who self-sabotages with their partner, the result may be feeling less accepted after being critical, more disconnected after being defensive, and less secure after demonstrating they are emotionally unavailable. Once clients are regularly dialoguing with the parts of themselves, their parts become more open to another way of having their needs met, such as the client's Self energy (our inner resource of clarity, confidence, ease, etc.) leading the way, with very different results, such as showing up and embodying confidence, courage, and curiosity about the other person - and greater relationship success. I am IFS Institute trained in Internal Family Systems (IFS) Therapy Level 1, Level 2, & Level 3, as well as Intimacy from the Inside Out (IFIO) therapy (the couples version of IFS), in Nonviolent Communication (NVC), I have completed postdoctoral coursework at the C. G. Jung Institute in NYC, and I have served as an IFS Level 1 Program Assistant to help other therapists learn IFS. I'm an able-bodied cisgender white person, I am working to be more conscious of my privilege, and to use it to hopefully help make the world better for everyone. My ancestors came to the United States from Europe and the Middle East. I am a mother, a feminist, and a lesbian. I am working to better understand the marginalization of others, and I hope to be considered an ally. In addition to work, I'm fond of being with family and friends, foraging for black licorice, and devouring detective novels.
