Many people seek counseling to manage stress, anxiety, or depression; navigate relationship or marital challenges; adapt to major life changes or losses; or rebuild confidence after difficult experiences. Counseling provides a focused opportunity to understand yourself more deeply, develop new coping strategies, and strengthen the relationships that matter most. My role is to help individuals and couples identify and build upon their existing strengths to create meaningful and lasting change. I hold a Ph.D. in Counseling Psychology from the University of Missouri–Kansas City and am a licensed psychologist in both Kansas and Missouri. Since 1996, I have served as a psychologist and director in university and college counseling centers, and since 2022, I have also directed a Professional Well-Being Center supporting physicians, advanced practice providers, and nurses. Outside of my professional work, I enjoy kayaking, weight lifting, and cycling, and I value time with my family. My wife is also a psychologist and former associate professor, and we’re proud parents of three adult children. Our home is shared with two beloved Saint Bernards, Bernie and Lucy.
