Hi, I’m LaShonta Edwards, M.Ed., LPC-Associate, LMFT-Associate, supervised by LaTasha Teamer, LPC-S, LMFT-S. I’m a therapist, a Black woman, and a single mom of four. I know how much comes with being a mom and how easy it can be to put yourself last while trying to take care of everyone else. My own experience with postpartum depression gave me a different understanding of what it feels like to struggle while still trying to show up for your family. It also played a big part in why I became so passionate about supporting other women. At Mindfully Rooted Counseling, I work primarily with Black women who are dealing with the many changes and challenges that come with motherhood and life. That may look like pregnancy and postpartum changes, anxiety, depression, burnout, relationship concerns, identity changes, or simply feeling overwhelmed and unsure of where to start. As a Black mom myself, I understand that our experiences are shaped by more than just what happens inside of us. Family, culture, expectations, relationships, and the pressure to always be strong can all play a role. My goal is to meet you where you are, listen without judgment, and help you work through what you're carrying. Therapy doesn't have to be stuffy or feel like you're sitting across from someone who doesn't understand your world. I want you to be able to come as you are, have honest conversations, laugh when we need to, and do the work that helps you feel more grounded and connected to yourself. You deserve a space where you don't have to be strong all the time.
