Life is too short to stay stuck in patterns of unhappiness and unfulfilled potential. I believe you ARE meant to experience the dreams planted deep in your heart and soul. What is it you wish to experience in this life? What is holding you back from it? What pain and complexities of this human experience are plaguing you? These are some of the questions we can explore in therapy. My approach to therapy mirrors my personality: compassion, kindness, deep listening, intuitive insights, deep awareness of emotions, along with lightheartedness and humor when appropriate. I work well with introverts, "deep thinkers," people who are highly self-aware/introspective, overthinkers, people pleasers, and intellectual + creative + "nerdy" types. I excel in helping with topics of self-esteem, confidence, "finding yourself," philosophical questions about life and identity, and existential themes in general. I have a knack for helping clients with their relationships (personal, romantic, professional, friendships) through understanding the deeper layers of personality, social and power dynamics, and healthy boundaries and communication. I might also be able to help if you find yourself stuck in themes of people-pleasing, over-functioning in relationships (doing too much for others to the point of negatively impacting yourself), and general life themes of finding yourself taken advantage of, not speaking up for yourself, having a hard time being assertive or drawing boundaries, etc. I also enjoy helping clients navigate questioning or changing belief systems, whether it be spiritual, religious, or philosophical beliefs you are exploring for yourself or transitioning out of the old and into something new. Personally, I have been through times of religious belief (in childhood/young adulthood), lack of belief, uncertainty, and spiritual exploration, and therefore find I can genuinely understand people of many different perspectives. It's not my role as a therapist to guide you into certain beliefs, but I can hold a compassionate and open-minded space as you explore what YOU believe, what's important to you, and how your past experiences with these aspects of life have impacted you. Overall, I see therapy as a highly unique space and relationship in which you get to express yourself authentically and explore aspects of your personality and emotions that you might not otherwise get to in the "real world" and day-to-day interactions with those you know. My job is to create this space where you hopefully feel comfortable to let your emotions flow, and we can explore together what your deepest dreams are, and how you may go about transforming into one who is living them.
