The philosophical concept of khora/khôra dates back to Plato, and it symbolizes a sacred place or clearing in which someone (or something) can create meaning. My job as your therapist is to uphold this space for you to feel safe, understood, and valued just as you are. I'm not here to dole out advice, and I am not a Christian counselor - almost everyone seeking counseling today in the Bible Belt needs to feel less judgment and shame, not more. My role is to listen and see each person's life as a complex and multi-faceted story, one that they get to tell and retell as they grow, change, struggle, and overcome. I am a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) with a Master's degree in Counseling from the University of Alabama at Birmingham, with concentrations in both Clinical Mental Health and Marriage, Couples, and Family Counseling. I believe my internship experience in a community clinic prepared me to serve clients of diverse backgrounds and perspectives now that I'm in private practice. I am unable to accept insurance at this time, but for clients who are experiencing financial hardships, I can offer a sliding scale payment structure based on your budget. I do not see clients younger than 14 years of age.
