Introduction

Leslie Danner has specialized training in school-related assessment and intervention for children 2-16 years old with expertise in working with young children. Ms. Danner takes pride in conducting comprehensive neurodevelopmental and psychoeducational evaluations for giftedness (including 2e), developmental delays, specific learning disabilities, autism spectrum disorders (with certification in ADOS-2 administration and interpretation), Attention- Deficit/ Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD), behavioral disorders (such as Oppositional Defiant Disorder), and mood disorders including Disruptive Mood Dysregulation Disorder (DMDD), anxiety disorders, and stress-related trauma/adjustment disorders. Ms.Danner focuses heavily on her recommendations post-evaluation including possible eligibility for educational services (e.g., IEP, 504 Accommodations, etc.), specific therapies (e.g., speech, OT, ABA, etc.), parent and child resources, and future treatment planning. Therapeutically, she specializes in working with young children who struggle with behavioral and/or emotional dysregulation, separation anxiety, and acute trauma-related disorders (including divorce, death/injury, and natural disasters) through a variety of techniques including Play Therapy, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, and ABA methodology. Ms. Danner is also trained in Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) and works with adolescents struggling with self-harm. In addition, she runs teen groups for Executive Functioning skills (i.e., mindfulness, organization, goal setting, self-esteem, self-discipline, etc.) Ms. Danner regularly incorporates parent training/coaching into her practices when working with young children. She has recently completed training in Yale University’s SPACE Training, aimed at helping parents reduce their child’s anxiety. In addition to direct service of care, Ms. Danner regularly conducts school/classroom observations as a behavior interventionist offering guidance and strategies to parents, teachers, and school administration that help meet the needs of the whole child. She enjoys visiting schools within our community and offers Behavior Training Courses for teachers/staff in the early education/preschool settings. Ms. Danner was born and raised in Westchester County, New York. She completed her undergraduate degree from Salisbury University in Maryland, receiving a Bachelors of Arts in Psychology with a track in Childhood Development. She worked as a preschool teacher before obtaining her graduate degrees from Marshall University, which included a Masters of Arts (MA) in Elementary Education and an Education Specialist Degree (EdS) in School Psychology. Ms. Danner is actively pursuing her doctoral degree.
