Introduction

About Lindsey I offer therapy for adults and couples, including intensive session format for EMDR or couples, EMDR consultations as a CIT, and clinical supervision to students or tLMHC. I use a blend of proven therapy methods to meet each person’s unique needs. My training includes Trauma-Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (TF-CBT), Ego State Therapy, Internal Family Systems (IFS), and Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR). EMDR is my favorite—no matter how many times I use it, it still feels like magic. I believe in the strength and potential of every person. My goal is to create a safe, supportive space where people can feel comfortable being themselves. I’m a casual therapist—often barefoot and cross-legged–I don’t have all the answers, but I’m here to help you figure them out. I’m also a bit of a nerd when it comes to research and reading, so I can combine the art and science of therapy to help clients grow and thrive. With optimism, humor, and kindness, I aim to build real connections and guide people on their healing journeys. Intern Services: Lindsey Brinker is currently the site supervisor for Dana Ferris and Kristin Beiner. Kristin is accepting clients to her waitlist to start providing services mid August 2025. About Dana: I am a counseling student intern currently working on my master’s degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling at Grand View University. My theoretical approach to therapy combines neuroscience, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Rational Emotive Therapy, and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy to find the interventions that best fit each person’s needs. My style of direct communication tempered with humor allows me to compassionately challenge clients without being confrontational to prevent stagnation in the counseling relationship. I enjoy helping people make the connections that will move them in the direction that they want to grow. I work with individuals 21 and over and specialize in boundary setting, difficult in-law relationships, perfectionism, and anxiety. My counseling passion is teaching people how to be kinder to themselves and how to accept themselves for their inherent value as human beings. About Kristen: I’m a counseling student intern currently pursuing my Master’s in Clinical Mental Health Counseling at Walden University. I’m completing my clinical training under supervision at Brinker Counseling. I also hold a Master’s in Healthcare Administration and a Bachelor’s in Human Services, both from Upper Iowa University. I’m passionate about supporting individuals across the lifespan, especially those navigating anxiety, depression, life transitions, and identity development, including those in blended families or foster/adoptive settings. I’m committed to trauma-informed care and am actively exploring therapeutic approaches such as Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), mindfulness-based practices, strengths-based approaches, and narrative therapy. My goal is to create a safe, affirming, and nonjudgmental space where clients feel heard, respected, and empowered. I believe therapy is a powerful tool for healing and growth, and I strive to build a warm, collaborative relationship grounded in trust and authenticity. Outside of counseling, I enjoy spending time with my family, vacationing, reading, going for walks, and being outdoors. These activities help me stay grounded and bring creativity and presence into my work.
