Many people I work with describe feeling stuck in a cycle of worst-case scenarios, where the mind won’t stop racing and the body stays on high alert. You might have that "wired but tired" feeling, notice a constant tightness in your chest, a sense of being on edge, or struggle with a stream of intrusive thoughts and nagging doubts that just won't seem to go away. Beyond the anxiety, the past can often feel like it’s still happening. You may carry a heavy sense of not being “good enough,” or find it difficult to trust others and even yourself. When old memories feel close to the surface, it can be hard to feel calm, present, or happy in your daily life. Even when you understand why these patterns exist, it can still feel like nothing really changes. It is exhausting to feel stuck between wanting things to be different and not knowing how to get there. I believe that deep down, you already have the capacity to heal. My role is to help you make sense of what’s happening and work through the places where you feel stuck, so you can reconnect with yourself and begin moving forward. HOW WE WORK TOGETHER For Trauma, Anxiety, Chronic Stress: I specialize in Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR), a research-supported approach that helps the brain reprocess distressing experiences so they no longer feel as overwhelming or intrusive. Rather than just talking about what happened, it helps your brain “digest” those experiences in a new way, so they no longer trigger the same emotional reactions or keep you stuck in the same patterns. The past can finally stay in the past, rather than triggering you in the present. We work at a pace that feels manageable for you, helping to quiet the noise of the past so you can feel more present and begin building the life you want now. While often used for trauma, EMDR is also incredibly effective for anxiety, depression, and changing the ways our body holds onto stress, like persistent tension, exhaustion, or pain. For OCD: OCD can pull you into exhausting loops of overthinking and “what-ifs” that feel impossible to ignore. This often shows up as intrusive thoughts and relentless doubt that keep you stuck in patterns like reviewing and replaying moments of your day, seeking reassurance, or repeatedly checking, avoiding, or doing things in a certain way to try to feel more certain or in control. Over time, these cycles can take up more time and energy than you have to give, all for the sake of a brief sense of relief or certainty. Together, we use Exposure and Response Prevention (ERP) to help you step out of these cycles and reduce the power of intrusive thoughts. Over time, you learn that the anxiety you are feeling is not dangerous, and you begin to respond differently rather than reacting out of fear. This reduces the anxiety you experience and creates more space for you to actually live your life, rather than OCD controlling it. WHAT TO EXPECT In our sessions, you can expect a supportive, collaborative space where you feel understood. Therapy is not about fixing you; it is about helping you make sense of your experiences so you can choose how you respond to life. As things begin to shift, you may notice yourself feeling less reactive, more present, and more confident in your decisions. You may also feel more connected to yourself and your relationships, and feel more capable of moving through your day without feeling constantly overwhelmed. If you are ready to see what is possible when you are no longer held back, I would be honored to walk alongside you. Reach out today for a brief consultation to see if we are a good fit.
