Introduction

Navigating the mental health system is challenging. I believe therapy should be a space to feel safe and heard regardless of your life experiences, and that your culture and identity are important to honor and integrate into therapy. Systems of oppression and discrimination are also important to factor in to the experience of my clients, as these systems are constant and impact mental health throughout our lifetime. My approach to therapy is person centered, trauma focused, and psychodynamic, with an emphasis on the therapeutic relationship as a key component for client change. The therapy modalities I draw from in my practice are DBT, ACT, CBT, Relational-Cultural Therapy, attachment based interventions, trauma and attachment interventions, and process-oriented therapies. Trauma can sometimes be viewed as impossible to work with or "too much" by others, which is harmful and not true. My experience working as a therapist and teacher has given me a unique toolbox and ability to understand both my role as a therapist and person, and to treat trauma of women, BIPOC, and the LGBTQIA+ community influenced by systemic issues.
