I draw from a humanistic foundation, and over the years, my practice has become increasingly eclectic, shaped by what each person specifically needs and can find effective. I integrate Somatic Therapy practices and Polyvagal-informed practices for clients interested in also attending to the physical symptoms they experience and is tied to their anxiety, stress, or unresolved trauma concerns. It is a great approach to developing internal and external resources to manage stress, emotions, and anxiety. Somatic therapy includes some cognitive and behavioral therapy practices as well. I often lean into Cognitive Behavioral Therapy approach to attend to any patterns of thinking, beliefs, and actions clients have that are reinforcing distress. Solution-Focused Therapy, including problem-solving skills, is also an approach I may find helpful to incorporate. Lastly, I bring warmth, calmness, and a little humor (when appropriate, of course). I’m honest and direct, but always in a way that is respectful and compassionate. If appropriate, I am not afraid to share my own stories when it will provide my clients with a sense of being understood or provied a new perspective that may be useful and beneficial to them.
