Introduction

Most people come to therapy because they want to feel better. That's completely understandable. And also — it's not quite what I'm trying to do. I practice ACT — Acceptance and Commitment Therapy. The core idea is a little counterintuitive: the goal isn't to get rid of the hard feelings. It's to stop letting them run your life. Anxiety, grief, self-doubt — these aren't problems to be solved. They're part of being human. ACT helps you make room for them, without letting them call the shots. What changes isn't how you feel. It's what you do, even when you feel that way. I've been a licensed mental health counselor in private practice for over five years, working with adults in Connecticut and Rhode Island. The people I work with are navigating trauma, OCD, anxiety, depression, and PTSD. Many arrive exhausted — from trying to think their way out of it, wait it out, or push through. What I've come to believe is that people don't need to be fixed. They need tools to move forward anyway. In our work together, I draw on ACT and exposure therapy — alongside emotional regulation, mindfulness, grounding, coping, and communication skills that hold up under real pressure. If you've spent a long time feeling like you should be more okay than you are — that's exactly where we start. With where you are. And we build from there. If that resonates — whether you're an individual looking for support or an organization looking to invest in your people — I'd welcome the chance to talk.
