Welcome to LowCounty Counseling & DBT, a personalized practice with a Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) focus in Charleston and the surrounding LowCountry region. Whether you’re navigating emotional dysregulation, trauma, anxiety, depression, suicidal thoughts or attempts, or other issues stopping you from living your best life, I can provide you with the skills and emotional support that are grounded in research and delivered with understanding and confidence that will give you the tools to succeed in your journey. Our goals together will focus on learning healthy coping strategies to effectively manage your emotions in order for you to create a life worth living. I have extensive experience using and teaching Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) in my clinical work in residential treatment, outpatient settings and private practice. I specialize in the treatment of mood lability, anxiety, depression, self-injurious and suicidal behaviors, trauma and PTSD, Bipolar Disorder, Borderline Personality Disorder, other kkschool and self-esteem difficulties and more. The traditional adherent model of DBT individual psychotherapy, group therapy, family therapy and psychiatry visits (the generally used DBT model) can be expensive and time consuming. Fortunately, I have the training and skills to teach DBT skills and utilize coaching 24/7 with complete availability to my clients. I am aware of the emotional strain to both the client & family as they navigate treatment and will do everything to make the process smooth. I enjoy working with clients who are experiencing difficulty managing intense emotions interfering with daily living. My goal is to help individuals build resiliance, develop emotional regulation skills and strengthen relationships with others. The focus is on learning healthy and adaptive coping strategies and skills to allow for growth in school, work or relationships. I am proficient in the adherent protocol of DBT (Dialectical Behavior Therapy) and have received intensive training in DBT through Behavioral Tech (the original program created by DBT founder Marsha Linehan). I have also completed training in Prolonged Exposure-DBT for Trauma (DBT-PE), protocol adapted for children (DBT-C) and Level One and Two of Theraplay® and Group Theraplay®. I have participated in DBT consultation and have supervised clinicians who wish to enhance their adherence to the treatment model. I am passionate about DBT education and the effective practice of DBT as a modality of treatment. I also have extensive experience in traditional psychotherapy with children, adolescents and adults. Whether your anxiety feels crippling or your depression is exhausting, DBT skills allow clients to improve their ability to handle emotions and live a more balanced life.
