About the therapist Hi, I am Dr. Lorie Salinas. I am a Psychologist with over 15 years of licensed clinical and counseling experience (14 years licensed with the State of Texas). I enjoy meeting people from all walks of life and hearing their stories. I strive to allow my professional knowledge and experience to help others in the ways I can. I am now offering virtual TeleHealth therapy sessions to talk with you by video. I am located in the Houston-Metro area, and I am licensed to work with clients who are within the state of Texas. I believe that stress can reveal itself in many ways. Sometimes stress is revealed in worsened health, fatigue, strain in relationships, or overuse of other ways of coping. Some find that what has always worked just does not work anymore, and they are ready for something new. The therapy I offer is generally just that - listening to know you, know what strengths you are already using, and figure out ways to expand or improve the situation to bring you closer to your goals. I provide general mental health assessment and counseling services, and I specialize in stress and trauma and the importance of honoring you as a whole person while also helping you create meaningful change in the directions you choose based on your value system. Areas within stress and trauma in which I have advanced training and experience include: Reproductive Mental Health (e.g., related to hormones, development, fertility; pregnancy, the postpartum period; menopause; relationship changes or grief and loss; and other life phase changes); Sexual health concerns and dysfunctions (e.g., education and therapy; consent; safety; physical health precautions; desire and arousal, orgasm, pain, satisfaction); and problems related to emotions, thoughts, relationships, behaviors, and sense of self (problems are sometimes described as over-controlled or under-controlled/out-of-control in these 5 types of human experiences). I work with individuals and couples. I am happy to have a free 15-minute consultation to see if we might be a good fit for therapy. You are welcome to call me directly at 713-887-6996. I look forward to meeting you! Sincerely, Lorie Salinas, PhD ___________________________________ Professional Details: Dr. Salinas earned her undergraduate degree from Trinity University (2001) in San Antonio, Texas.
