My passion is to help others, especially through art. With over 15 years of combined experience as an art teacher and a school counselor, I enjoy combining my knowledge and experience into working with client in a therapeutic setting. I earned my undergrad in Art Education with a minor in Art Therapy from Capital University. My master's degree in School Counseling is from Liberty University, and my Post-Master's certification in Art Therapy is from Edinboro University (now called PennWest). What I love about art therapy is that it is truly for EVERYONE: any age, any gender, any artistic level. Art Therapy is process-based, focusing on the journey of expression rather than making an artistic masterpiece. Art is the vehicle for emotions, feelings, thoughts, and ideas to be expressed. Art helps when words are difficult. A typical session will include a check-in/warm-up activity, an art intervention tailored to the client's goals and artistic preferences and comfort level, in-depth discussion of artwork and directionality for future sessions. Why "Oyster and Pearl"? Oysters create pearls by using the irritants that come into their shell to create a beautiful pearl- something wonderful out of its negative situation. What are the irritants in your life that need support to transform into pearls?
