Introduction

I am a licensed clinical social worker and psychotherapist based in Brooklyn, NY. I have a masters degree in social work from Hunter College and have completed additional training in child and adolescent development. I am currently a high school social worker with the NYC Department of Education where I provide mental health support and counseling for teens and young adults still in the school system. I previously worked as a psychotherapist with Valera Health and now run my own small private practice. Outside of my practice I enjoy reading, cooking, and taking walks through Brooklyn Bridge Park with my dog. I am also a mom. The foundation of my approach is psychodynamic but I also believe in a holistic approach to treatment that involves borrowing elements from cognitive therapy, strength based therapy, and mindfulness. In our work together I will often ask you to draw from past experiences to inform the present. I believe that we are the product of our experiences and that if we can make sense of how our past has shaped us, we can become better at identifying emotional soft spots and managing our thoughts and feelings when they become overwhelming or confusing. I believe in bringing laughter to therapy -- therapy should provide just as much space to process joy as it does to process stress and sadness. I work well with people who have a sense of humor, who are curious about themselves and others, and who are looking for honesty and directness when it's appropriate. Our sessions together will not feel like the stereotypical image of therapy you might have in mind: you draped across an ottoman, and me simply listening nearby. The goal is that our sessions be conversational and collaborative.
