Maggie Seymour is a prior active duty Marine, diplomat, mother to three toddler boys, and step-mother to a teenage daughter. After nearly two decades in the national security space, working on macro-level problem-sets, she pivoted to mental health, focusing on individual healing and growth. Her education background is varied, with a BA in Political Science, MAs in Military History, Sociology, Journalism, Public Leadership, and Counseling. She also holds a PhD in International Relations from Old Dominion University. As part of her transition off active-duty, she ran across the United States, raising $100k for various non-profits that welcomed her during her time in uniform. She is also a proud AmeriCorps alumni, having served a year with a literacy non-profit in Charleston, SC. After three years of freelance contracting, writing, coaching, and researching, Maggie joined the State Department as a Foreign Service Officer in 2020. She is currently on sabbatical from the department as she pursues her career as a professional counselor. She resides in western Virginia with her family where she spends her personal time running, reading, writing, and dreaming up home renovations for her partner.
