Introduction

You may love each other deeply and still find yourselves having the same arguments, struggling to communicate, or feeling more disconnected than you want to be. Or maybe you're navigating a life transition, family stress, cultural expectations, or simply trying to understand yourself and your relationships in a new way. I'm Mahtaab Manekia, a Registered Marriage and Family Therapist Intern, and I work with couples, adolescents, individuals, and families who want to move beyond simply getting through life and begin creating healthier, more connected relationships. I have a special passion for working with individuals and couples who want to strengthen communication, rebuild emotional connection, navigate conflict, and better understand the patterns that keep them feeling stuck. My approach draws from Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT), Gottman-informed practices, and Prepare/Enrich to help couples look beneath the surface of conflict and understand what may really be happening between them. As a certified yoga instructor, I also incorporate mindfulness and mind-body awareness when helpful. These practices can support you in slowing down, recognizing your emotions and responses, managing stress, and becoming more intentional in how you relate to yourself and the people you love. My multicultural background has deeply shaped the way I approach therapy. I value the cultural, racial, spiritual, family, and personal experiences that influence who you are, and I strive to create a warm, affirming space where you don't have to leave important parts of yourself outside the therapy room. Whether you're coming to therapy as a couple hoping to find your way back to one another, a teen navigating a complicated season of life, or an individual wanting healthier relationships with others and yourself, you don't have to have everything figured out before you begin. Sometimes the first step is simply having a space to slow down, understand what's happening, and discover your “why.” From there, we can work together toward meaningful change, stronger relationships, and a life that feels less like surviving and more like thriving.
