Hi, this is Doc DuMond and I was led to work with individuals who have suffered from Post Traumatic Stress and substance use issues. Specifically with Veterans, First Responders and their family members. I experienced traumatic brain injury and self-medication when I was a teenager which as it turns out is a form of acquired brain injury. I returned to school as a nontraditional student with two young children to care for. A degree in Fine Art will only go so far and I was influenced to return to school in the original cohort at Texas Wesleyan's Master's program in Counseling Psychology. After earning my degree, I worked with clients who had self-medication problems including Veterans in the Tarrant County Veterans Treatment Court program. I work with North Texas Veterans Court clients as well. Our job is to uncover strengths and assets that have gone overlooked, forgotten or undiscovered. The problem is the problem. You, I, we are not the problem. We may have owned the problem and it may have owned us, but we don't have to anymore. We work toward solution finding, building resilience and creating new beginnings. Along with counseling I provide can PTSD assessments, DBQ paperwork and Nexus letters. I have worked 19 years with these populations. It would be an honor and a privilege to be of service to you as well.
