Mara Taranhike
Introduction
Mara graduated from UNC Chapel Hill with a Masters of Social Work in 2013. In her studies she focused on children, families, and immigrant communities. Mara works with children ages 3-11, parents, families and individual adults. Mara counts it an honor to walk with clients through challenging life situations. She enjoys using research proven therapies paired with understanding individual strengths and needs to tailor her practice to each client. Mara uses Internal Family Systems (IFS), Child Centered Play Therapy (CCPT) and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) with Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) in her practice. She is also a Connected Families certified parent coach who supports clients in their efforts to parent with peace and grace while instructing their children in character and wisdom. This framework is strongly rooted in biblical principles, attachment theory, and the latest neuroscience findings. In her free time Mara enjoys spending time with her husband and children, friends and church family. She likes knitting, reading, and being outside.
