Maybe you’ve been in therapy before. Maybe you’ve learned the skills, read the books, and can explain exactly why you do what you do—but you still feel stuck. Or maybe life has simply become more complicated than you know how to navigate on your own. I work with adults, parents, couples, and families who are dealing with the messy, complicated parts of being human—trauma, difficult relationships, attachment wounds, overwhelming emotions, family conflict, major transitions, or moments when it feels like things have reached a breaking point. My approach is warm, direct, practical, and deeply relational. I have a strong background in DBT and work especially well with complex and higher-acuity concerns, but therapy with me isn’t just about learning another set of skills. We’ll make room to understand the patterns underneath what’s happening, where they came from, and what might actually help you move forward. I created Back Porch Therapy for people who want therapy to feel a little less clinical and a lot more human. Located on an urban homestead in Austin, the practice was designed as a place to slow down, settle in, and have the conversations that are hard to have everywhere else. You don’t need to have everything figured out before you come. We can start with where you are.
