Introduction

As your Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner, my goal is to provide care that is truly individualized for every person I work with. I believe that each patient’s journey is unique, and my role is to meet you where you are while helping you move toward where you want to be. Together, we will create personalized goals for your mental health and overall well-being, developing a treatment plan that reflects your needs, values, and strengths. I approach every therapeutic relationship as a partnership. It’s important to me that we work collaboratively, building a foundation of trust, respect, and open communication. Through this process, I aim to create a safe and supportive environment where you can explore challenges, gain insight, and develop effective strategies for growth and healing. My practice is grounded in a person-centered and humanistic approach, which means I see you as a whole person—not just a diagnosis or set of symptoms. I believe in your innate capacity for self-understanding and positive change. My goal is to help you reach your mental health goals, rediscover your strengths, and move toward a life that feels more balanced, meaningful, and self-fulfilling. Maggie Smith, PMHNP, is a Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner dedicated to helping individuals recover from trauma and move toward fulfilling, self-actualizing lives. She provides compassionate and comprehensive care for patients experiencing mood disorders such as Major Depressive Disorder, Generalized Anxiety Disorder, and Bipolar Disorder, as well as individuals managing ADHD. Her work centers on guiding patients toward emotional balance, resilience, and overall mental well-being, with an emphasis on restoring hope and helping each person reach their highest potential. Her therapeutic approach is grounded in person-centered and humanistic principles, focusing on empathy, authenticity, and unconditional positive regard. Maggie believes that every patient has the capacity for growth and healing when provided with a supportive and understanding environment. She works collaboratively with her patients to develop personalized treatment plans that integrate evidence-based psychiatric care with a strong therapeutic relationship, fostering empowerment and self-awareness throughout the healing process. Maggie brings several years of diverse clinical experience in psychology and psychiatry. Her professional background includes three years working in an inpatient Child and Adolescent Psychiatry Unit, followed by two and a half years as a medical provider in an inpatient substance use rehabilitation program. She also has one year of experience in Geriatric Psychiatry and has spent the last two and a half years providing outpatient psychiatric services for adults and older adolescents. This breadth of experience allows her to offer nuanced, compassionate care to patients across the lifespan and with a wide range of mental health needs. Maggie’s practice is based in Pennsylvania, where she provides telehealth psychiatric evaluations, medication management, and therapy services. She is licensed to serve patients residing in both Pennsylvania and Maryland, offering flexible scheduling and the convenience of secure virtual appointments to ensure accessible, patient-centered mental health care.
