Introduction

Hola! I’m Maria Villeda— but you can call me Mari! I’m the owner of Homegirl Roots Psychotherapy and a bilingual Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW 123165) providing outpatient mental health services to adults across California via Telehealth and in person. First off, I’m proud of you for showing up for yourself today. If you’re here, you may be feeling pulled toward healing, growth, or making sense of difficult experiences— and that’s where I come in. I specialize in supporting BIPOC and LGBTQIA+ individuals navigating challenges related to anxiety, depression, burnout, PTSD, ADHD, self-esteem, trauma, life transitions, and boundary-setting. As a community-based therapist, I’m passionate about increasing access to culturally responsive and affirming mental health care, including for Medi-Cal clients and underserved communities. My approach to therapy is integrative and personalized, drawing from cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), person-centered therapy, mindfulness, trauma-informed care, environmental systems theory, social justice frameworks, Brainspotting, and strength-based practices— with a dose of realness, collaboration, and laughter. I believe therapy should feel human, supportive, and grounded in your lived experiences. Starting therapy can feel vulnerable, but it can also be one of the most powerful acts of self-care and healing. If you’re ready to invest in yourself, I’d be honored to walk alongside you on your journey toward healing, growth, and reconnecting with your most authentic self.
