Marilee is a Licensed Clinical Mental Health Counselor (License #17030) in the state of North Carolina and a National Certified Counselor. She holds a master’s degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from Liberty University and a bachelor’s degree in Psychology from North Carolina State University (Go Pack!). Marilee has experience counseling adolescent (12+) and adult clients across a wide range of presenting issues. She frequently supports clients facing anxiety, life transitions, depression, unresolved trauma, relational conflict, insecurity and self-doubt, identity exploration, and women’s issues. As an adoptive parent and mom of a child with diverse needs, she is deeply passionate about supporting parents through the unique challenges and joys of parenting. In counseling, Marilee provides a compassionate, non-judgmental space where clients from all backgrounds can safely explore their thoughts, emotions, and experiences. Her goal is to empower clients to create meaningful, lasting change in their lives and to build confidence in overcoming challenges. Marilee’s counseling approach is rooted in then belief that growth and healing are nurtured when clients feel fully seen and compassionately supported. Her counseling style is relational and collaborative, grounded in person-centered and strengths-based approaches. She is guided by evidence-based practices and integrates approaches such as Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), and others to meet each client’s unique needs. She is also trained in Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR), which she offers to clients navigating a wide range of concerns. In her free time, Marilee enjoys spending time with her husband, two young children, and their rescue dog. She can often be found working in the garden, browsing local thrift stores, tackling DIY home projects, or trying a new coffee shop with a friend.
