Introduction

Hi! My name is Marissa. I’m originally from South Texas (the Valley) and have called Austin home since 2019. I’m a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist, and I feel incredibly grateful to be able to walk alongside people through some of life’s most tender and transformative seasons. A special area of my work is supporting individuals and couples throughout the fertility and perinatal journey - whether you’re trying to conceive, navigating fertility treatments, pregnant, or adjusting to life postpartum. These experiences can bring so many emotions at once, and sometimes it can feel difficult to explain what you’re going through to the people around you. I strive to create a space where you can bring all of it: the excitement, grief, anxiety, hope, uncertainty, and everything in between, without judgment. My passion for this work is also personal. I’ve experienced my own journey with trying to conceive and fertility, which has given me an even deeper understanding of how much these experiences can touch every part of your life, relationships, identity, and sense of self. I also have a special interest in body image, complex trauma, attachment, and disordered eating. I love helping clients slow down and understand the stories they’ve developed about themselves and where those stories came from. Much of my work incorporates inner parts and inner-child work, including IFS-informed approaches, as well as helping clients reclaim their narratives and develop a more compassionate relationship with themselves. Relationships and family dynamics are another meaningful part of my work. I especially enjoy working with couples who are navigating different cultural backgrounds, family expectations, and the complexities of building a life together while honoring where each person comes from. I also enjoy working with families with adult children who want to better understand one another, particularly when attachment wounds, trauma, or eating disorders have impacted their relationships. My therapeutic style is warm, empathetic, and collaborative. I believe you are the expert in your own life, and I’m here to be a guide as we make sense of what you’ve experienced and where you want to go next. Sometimes that means gently challenging the narratives that no longer serve you, exploring attachment and family patterns, healing younger parts of yourself, reconnecting with your body, or simply having a safe place to be heard. As a Latina therapist, I also know how meaningful it can be to sit with someone who understands the cultural and family dynamics that can shape our experiences. I strive to create a space where your culture, identity, relationships, and lived experiences are welcomed and valued. Above all, I believe the therapeutic relationship matters. You deserve to feel safe, understood, and comfortable being your whole self in therapy, and I want to make sure we feel like a good fit for your journey. When I’m not working, I’m enjoying this new season of life as a new mom to my baby boy, Sebastian, traveling, redecorating, playing volleyball, and watching movies with my husband and our dog, Cusco. I look forward to meeting you! 🤍
