Greetings! My name is MaryAnne Galloway, and I am proud of my Puerto Rican heritage while embracing Christian values. Fluent in both English and Spanish, my cultural background affords me a profound understanding of the Latino community and the unique stressors that often lead to parent-child conflicts and challenges in comprehending mental health nuances. It is this cultural awareness that has fueled my passion for a profession to which I have dedicated over 20 years. I am a Certified Christian Counselor, and I integrate principles of psychology and Christian faith into my work with individuals who desire a faith-informed approach to their emotional and mental health journey. I believe that counseling can address the whole person—mind, emotions, relationships, behaviors, and spiritual well-being. When appropriate and desired by the individual, I incorporate Christian principles, biblical perspectives, prayer, and faith-based practices alongside therapeutic approaches to help clients develop greater understanding, resilience, hope, and purpose. My goal is to create a welcoming environment where individuals can explore their concerns while remaining respectful of their personal beliefs, values, and experiences. With an extensive background in case management and counseling, I have honed my skills while providing intensive in-home individual and family counseling. My approach incorporates various therapeutic modalities, fostering an environment that respects cultural values and individual beliefs while helping clients navigate their emotions and behaviors and effectively communicate their individual needs. Life's transitions can present traumatic challenges that lead to overwhelming feelings of anxiety, depression, uncertainty, and discouragement. These emotions can cloud our ability to perform optimally and set achievable goals, often resulting in maladaptive behaviors that impact safety and overall well-being. Understanding and managing these emotions is a key focus of my practice. Through an integrative approach, I help individuals identify patterns, develop healthy coping skills, strengthen relationships, and discover practical and meaningful ways to move forward. I specialize in offering creative and enjoyable methods tailored to children and families, creating a safe space where trust, openness, and authentic expression can develop. My expertise also extends to couples counseling, parent-child conflicts, family dynamics, and other relational challenges. I am well-versed in Bowen's Family Systems Theory, which explores generational patterns of behaviors and thinking and provides insight into maladaptive survival patterns, anxiety, and depression. Certified in both the Nurtured Heart Approach and the Nurturing Parenting Program curriculum, I provide parents with culturally sensitive tools to better understand themselves and their children, strengthen family relationships, and become the best parents they can be while working to break unhealthy generational patterns. Currently serving on the Child Study Team, I bring valuable insight from the Special Education Process that can significantly impact home dynamics. For instance, a student with limited language or processing abilities may face challenges meeting parental expectations, which can sometimes be misunderstood or interpreted solely as behavioral issues. Understanding these underlying factors can help families respond with greater compassion, patience, and effectiveness. As a Christian counselor, I recognize that faith can be an important source of strength, hope, identity, and healing. My role is to meet each individual where they are and, when requested, integrate Christian faith with sound psychological principles to support meaningful growth and emotional wellness. I believe that counseling should honor the uniqueness of each person while providing practical tools to navigate life's challenges. I am prepared to partner with you on your journey toward emotional wellness, healthier relationships, and greater balance. My commitment to cultural awareness, Christian-integrated counseling, and more than 20 years of professional experience allows me to provide a holistic and inclusive therapeutic approach. Together, I am confident that we can create the shifts needed to live life to the fullest—with confidence, presence, stability, and hope. Let's embark on this transformative journey together!
