Introduction

Marylin is a bilingual (English/Spanish) therapist who works with children, adolescents, young adults, families, and first-generation clients navigating anxiety, depression, trauma, relationship challenges, self-esteem concerns, and major life transitions. She is especially passionate about supporting individuals exploring the intersections of family, culture, identity, and personal growth. Marylin understands that each person’s story is shaped by their unique experiences, relationships, and environment. She strives to create a warm and culturally responsive space where clients feel heard, respected, and comfortable showing up as their authentic selves. Clients value Marylin’s compassionate, collaborative, and strengths-based approach. She works alongside clients to better understand their experiences, build healthy coping skills, strengthen emotional resilience, and create meaningful change that aligns with their individual goals. Marylin integrates evidence-based and creative approaches including Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), Motivational Interviewing, mindfulness-based techniques, play therapy, expressive interventions, and trauma-informed care. Her approach is flexible and personalized, allowing her to meet each client where they are while honoring their strengths, values, and lived experiences. Marylin earned her Master of Social Work from the Jane Addams College of Social Work at the University of Illinois Chicago. She also holds a Bachelor of Science in Criminal Law & Justice and has completed additional training through the Integrated Behavioral Health Training Program, Trauma-Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (TF-CBT), and 40-Hour Domestic Violence Training. Outside of the therapy room, Marylin enjoys crocheting, yoga, going to the movies, and spending time with her two dogs, Zoe and Krypto.
