Introduction

Welcome to Fire Island Pines Psychotherapy. Hi, I'm Mat, founder and clinical director of Fire Island Pines Psychotherapy. I created this practice because I believe everyone deserves a space where they can show up exactly as they are, without judgment, shame, or pressure to be someone they're not. As a queer therapist, husband, and dad, I understand that our identities, relationships, and lived experiences shape how we move through the world. My own experiences have deeply influenced how I approach therapy, with authenticity, compassion, curiosity, and a belief that meaningful change happens through genuine human connection. Today, FIPP is a team of compassionate, LGBTQ+ affirming therapists offering individual, couples, and relationship therapy throughout New York via telehealth. Our clinicians support people navigating anxiety, depression, identity exploration, relationship challenges, trauma, life transitions, and substance use. We take a collaborative, psychodynamic, and harm-reduction approach, meeting you wherever you are in your journey. We especially welcome LGBTQ+ individuals, BIPOC communities, neurodivergent folks, and anyone who has felt misunderstood or overlooked in traditional mental health spaces. We believe therapy shouldn't be about fixing who you are. It should be about understanding yourself, feeling supported, and finding a way forward that feels right for you. We accept a variety of insurance plans and have clinicians welcoming new clients. Whether you're beginning therapy for the first time or looking for a different kind of therapeutic relationship, we'd love to connect. Warmly, Mathew Wunsch, LCSW-SIFI Founder & Clinical Director Fire Island Pines Psychotherapy Admin@FireIslandPinesPsychotherapy.com https://fireislandpinespsychotherapy.com/
