I’m Dr. Matisha Williams, a doctor with a PsyD. in Counseling Psychology and a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist with a deep commitment to providing compassionate, culturally responsive care. I earned my M.A. in Marriage and Family Therapy from Saint Mary’s University of Minnesota in 2008 and recently returned to Saint Mary’s to complete my Doctorate in Counseling Psychology in 2024. My approach to therapy and performance psychology is rooted in a multicultural feminist foundation. I integrate techniques from narrative therapy, solution-focused therapy, and cognitive-behavioral therapy, always aiming to create a secure, balanced space where clients feel seen, heard, and supported. I hold unconditional positive regard for each person I work with and am especially attuned to the intersecting identities that shape our experiences and well-being. I have worked with individuals of all ages facing a wide range of challenges, including life transitions, grief and loss, anxiety, mood and thought disorders, and experiences of crisis. I also have extensive experience working in forensic settings and supporting individuals navigating complex systems. For over 15 years, I’ve served clients across Illinois and Minnesota, including in community mental health, outpatient clinics, hospitals, corrections institutions, and private practice. As a former collegiate athlete, I bring a personal passion to my work with athletes. I specialize in performance enhancement and athlete mental health and am currently completing the requirements to become a Certified Mental Performance Consultant (CMPC). If you're looking for a therapist who values authenticity, cultural awareness, and holistic care, I’d be honored to work with you.
