My clients often believe they are a burden to others. They think they need to be perfect to be loved and that it would overwhelm others to know how they really feel. These beliefs leave them feeling anxious, lonely, ashamed and unhappy. They often isolate and may use pornography, video games or substances to numb themselves. They seek advice online, but find this information unhelpful. They may beat themselves up in frustration. Often, they seek therapy to have: better relationships; trust and security to express their needs; greater motivation and a sense of control over their life; and the confidence to be their authentic selves. Together we will: identify anxiety and shame triggers, existing coping skills, barriers to their use and how you want things to be; learn about grief, trauma and other concepts; practice noticing, naming and learning from your emotions; validate your needs and experiences; vocalize what you need others to understand about you; and celebrate your hard work. My greatest enjoyment is seeing clients learn they are capable and worthy of love, feel more control over their life and make progress towards their goals. Outside of therapy, I enjoy weightlifting, running, watching old movies and anime and playing video games. Please message me if you think I could be a good fit!
