Introduction

Matt Carrillo is an employee assistance program (EAP) clinician, licensed professional counselor, psychotherapist, consultant, coach, and trainer based in Houston, Texas. Through various roles for over 25 years he's been helping individuals and organizations succeed and maximize their potential. His goal is to live easier in how we operate at home, at work, and in the communities in which we live and play. Currently, Matt provides on-site clinical & management consultant services through an EAP for members of the U.S. Government Law Enforcement community and their families. He also operates a boutique limited private psychotherapy practice near Memorial Park in Houston's River Oaks / Rice Military neighborhood offering in-person and telehealth services. Matt brings a unique layered perspective to his work. For the first 20 years of his career, Matt worked in Human Resources management and executive administration in two primary industries – a nonprofit Texas civil rights law firm and an international structural and civil engineering firm.  Matt officially retired from HR in 2019 when he entered graduate school to pursue his passion for psychology.  In 2022 Matt graduated with his Master of Arts in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from Seminary of the Southwest in Austin. Matt also holds a Bachelor of Arts in Interpersonal Communication and a certification in Human Resource Management.  Previously, Matt held both the PHR and SPHR-CP designation through the Human Resources Certification Institute and the Society for Human Resource Management.  As a licensed professional counselor and psychotherapist, Matt's seasoned and diverse background provides him with a deep understanding of the intersection between workplace and interpersonal dynamics, spirituality, growth, and well-being. In his clinical work, he approaches from a solution focused but trauma-informed, relational, and person-centered perspective.  Matt is dedicated to creating an atmosphere of safety, compassion, and trust, providing authentic guidance that helps others navigate complex emotions and experiences. By combining his insights with expertise, direct approach, and problem-solving focus, Matt helps individuals achieve a more balanced and fulfilling life.
