Introduction

Hi, I’m Matt Carrillo. I'm based in the heart of Houston, Texas near Memorial Park, where I see clients in person. I also see clients across Texas, Florida and South Carolina via telehealth. I’m dedicated to helping folks thrive. I bring a pretty unique blend of experience to the table: before diving headfirst into my passion for psychology, I spent 20 years in HR management and executive administration. Today, I use that well-rounded background to support a diverse set of clients offering both in person and telehealth sessions. My ultimate goal is simple: to help folks live and work with a bit more ease, so you can make the most out of every part of your life. What I find most intriguing about my work is the complicated simplicity of what folks need. More than advice, folks seek and need understanding. They need to be seen and heard, really seen and heard. They want and need to feel validated. They are curious why the past doesn’t always stay buried and pops back up from time to time. And, self-compassion is powerful; it’s a key to real change. As a seasoned fellow human, we are never as alone as we think. Healing and thriving is always possible. As a licensed counselor, I working from a trauma-informed and person-centered perspective I creatively work with clients through blending several evidence based modalities such as solution focused, cognitive behavior, emotionally focused, and relational therapy. I’m also trained to provide eye movement desensitization and reprocessing (EMDR) therapy. I work with folks with unique and shared stories but find most rewarding helping folks navigate all things LGBT, life transitions, caregiving, workplace dynamics, launching into adulthood, relationships, grief, career changes, stress, and balance. === Copies of counseling and psychotherapy records are available per written request. Complaints may be filed with the Texas Behavioral Executive Council and the Texas Attorney General.
