My name is Matt (he/him), and I’m a therapist deeply committed to creating a space where individuals can explore their stories, make sense of their emotions, and begin to heal. My journey to becoming a therapist wasn’t linear; I initially studied music before a growing awareness of the quiet trauma, identity struggles, and emotional pain many people carry led me to the mental health field. Having spent much of my adult life in and around Baltimore’s vibrant art scenes, I eventually settled in West Baltimore, where I witnessed both the immense beauty and deep needs of the community. I strive to offer a steady, honest, and safe environment for those who have felt unheard or fallen through the cracks. Clients often describe me as a “real person” in the room, a quality I intentionally cultivate to meet the profound work of therapy with authentic humanity. My Therapy Approach My therapeutic approach is trauma-informed, relational, and grounded in curiosity. I thoughtfully integrate a range of evidence-based modalities, including CBT, DBT, psychodynamic theory, somatic practices, narrative therapy, parts work, and polyvagal theory. Rather than a one-size-fits-all model, I tailor my work to each individual, aiming to create a space where you can explore your experiences openly, free from judgment or the pressure to “get it right.” I meet people exactly where they are, whether you’re navigating grief, identity questions, trauma, neurodivergence, or simply seeking deeper self-understanding. I show up authentically and professionally, which clients consistently appreciate as it allows them to be fully themselves in sessions. In our work together, you can expect a blend of reflection, skill-building, and genuine conversation. My ultimate goal is to help you feel safe, seen, and empowered to make sense of your life, acknowledging that sometimes, finding humor in life’s complexities is part of the healing process. My Therapy Style I don’t jump to pathology. Instead, I take the time to slow down, listen intently, and take in the full picture of your experiences. My style is best described by the three words that resonate most with me: Grounded, Curious, and Rooted. I aim to provide a stable and consistent presence while maintaining an open curiosity about your unique journey, fostering a deep connection that is essential for meaningful therapeutic work. Who I Work With I primarily offer individual therapy and work with individuals aged 14 and above. While I focus on individual sessions, I am open to occasionally bringing in parents, partners, or other support systems when it aligns with your goals and can enhance your therapeutic journey. Specialization I specialize in working with teens and adults who are navigating complex trauma, identity exploration, and emotional challenges such as anxiety, depression, PTSD, and substance use. I also have a particular focus on supporting neurodivergent clients, including those with ADHD or autism, especially when these traits intersect with trauma, late diagnoses, or the societal pressure to mask. My work in these areas is always underscored by curiosity, respect, and a desire to empower individuals to understand their experiences. When I’m Not in the Therapy Room Outside of my practice, I embrace my inner “nerd” with a passion for continuous learning, building, and staying curious. I enjoy writing software, building websites, and working with electronics, and I’m deeply involved in the amateur radio community. A lifelong musician, I play guitar and bass and have performed in local music scenes across the DMV, Los Angeles, and Montreal. I also have a keen interest in photography and writing, currently working on a series of urban vignettes that blend absurdism and hyperrealism to explore how people find meaning within unjust systems. When I’m not immersed in these pursuits, you might find me uncovering lesser-known historic sites around Baltimore, hiking and camping, or enjoying long, peaceful train rides. I’m also frequently on my bike, on a quest to discover Baltimore’s best restaurants, with Culinary Architecture in Pigtown currently holding the top spot on my ever-changing list.
