My name is Matt Lamb, and I’m a Licensed Professional Counselor based in Juneau, Alaska. I am originally from Western New York and found my way into the helping field after navigating a back injury from years of trade work, along with other challenges I faced growing up and into my early twenties. Along the way, I traveled widely and embraced adventure, but it was a 90-day wilderness group excursion in the Kenai region of Alaska that changed my life. That experience opened my eyes to the profound power of inner work and healing and inspired me to dedicate myself to this path. Although I initially planned to teach history, my focus shifted to mental health after working as a direct care specialist in a hospital’s inpatient program for alcohol and substance use rehabilitation. I went on to earn a Master of Science degree and worked in a community clinic supporting families, teens, and individuals through their struggles. Since relocating to Alaska during the pandemic, I have dedicated my practice to helping people heal from trauma. My work continues to be shaped by my own journey of growth, resilience, and the belief that transformation is possible for everyone. I believe therapy should treat the whole person—not just symptoms. Whether you’re carrying the weight of past experiences, navigating major life transitions, or seeking healthier ways to cope, I’ll work with you to reconnect with your strengths and build a life that feels more grounded and meaningful. I offer sessions online and in person in Juneau, Alaska, and currently accept Aetna and Premera Blue Cross insurance. For all other plans, I provide superbills for potential reimbursement.
