Introduction

Hi, I'm Matt Rojo, a licensed marriage and family therapist in private practice in downtown Walnut Creek. For over 17 years I've helped couples reconnect and individuals work through anxiety, panic, trauma, adult ADHD, and burnout — with a structured approach you can measure, so you know whether therapy is working, and when we're done. I know reaching out is often a last resort, after you've already tried everything else. I'll meet you with honesty, kindness, and a plan. We set real goals together and check progress against them, so you'll see whether therapy is working — and if it stalls, I'll tell you. You leave with more than insight: skills you can actually use. My couples work is structured and skills-based. We start with a thorough assessment of the relationship and each of you, set clear goals, and track progress weekly against a standard measure of relationship satisfaction. You build concrete conflict and communication skills in sequence, and we work through every item on the list of what brought you in. When there's been an affair or an addiction, there's a separate, structured path for rebuilding trust and healing what the betrayal left behind. Straight and same-sex couples are a regular part of my practice. For individuals, I treat anxiety, panic, and trauma using approaches proven effective in clinical research — EMDR, cognitive processing therapy (CPT), exposure therapy, and CBT. I also work with adults with ADHD, focusing on everything around it: the background anxiety, the overwhelm, the self-blame that piles up after years of falling short of your own intentions. And I work with high-functioning people running on empty — stressed, disconnected, burned out inside a life that looks fine on paper. Sessions are held in person in downtown Walnut Creek; individual therapy is also available by video. Couples therapy is in person only. You can read my reviews on Yelp and Google, and learn more about how I work at walnutcreektherapists.com. If you'd like to talk before deciding anything, use the buttons above to request an intro call or message me — I offer a free 30-minute consultation.
