Hi, I'm Maya, I'm a queer and neurodivergent Couples and Family Therapy and Art Therapy intern at Antioch University, and I'm so glad you're here! You're a beautifully complicated mix of your history, lineage, body, culture, hardships, and passions, and you deserve a space where all of it is welcome. That's what drew me to art therapy: creativity has room for all of who you are. I adapt every model through an art therapy lens, drawing on family systems, IFS, narrative, experiential, and solution-focused therapies, mindfulness, and trauma and dissociation support. Together, we'll build a plan that honors your goals and grows with you. Working from a decolonial framework, I begin with curiosity. You're the expert on your life, so I want to learn what healing means to you and your community. I also prioritize psychoeducation, so you understand the "why" behind our work. As a queer, genderfluid, plural, neurodivergent, and disabled person, I know how it feels to move through a world not built for you. Here, you don't have to explain everything. Outside therapy, I paint, throw ceramics, sew, face paint, practice tai chi and qigong, write songs, and hike.
