Hi, I'm Meagan! I'm a (recovering) school counselor turned Professional Counselor Associate! My transition to a therapist in private practice has allowed me to shift from a fast-paced and directive approach in the school counseling world to one where I get to slow down, follow the client's lead, and create space for people to access and explore their feelings and experiences more fully. At the same time, I bring an education perspective to my therapeutic practice. My experience in schools gave me a unique understanding of systems, dynamics, and the daily pressures kids, teens, parents, and adults face. In practice, this means that, no matter their age, I meet each client exactly where they are, session to session. Sometimes that looks like practical, skills-based work, and sometimes it looks like accessing and sitting with the more uncomfortable feelings together. I approach each client without judgment and with warmth and validation for their experience, while also gently challenging them to grow when they're ready. Humor is a natural part of how I connect with people, and I bring play into my work with younger clients as well. I am passionate about providing LGBTQIA+ affirming care and about supporting BIPOC clients. I want every person who walks through my door to feel truly welcomed and safe being exactly who they are.
