Introduction

If you've landed on my profile, there's a good chance something has felt off for a while — and you're trying to figure out if therapy might actually help. Let me be straightforward with you: I think it can. And I think the right fit matters more than most people realize when they're searching for a therapist. I'm a Licensed Mental Health Counselor (LMHC) with over 10 years of experience working with adults in the Clinton, Iowa area. I opened my private practice, On The Mend Counseling, in 2024 — named for the belief that what we do in therapy is often more mending than healing. We're honoring what happened, not pretending it didn't. I specialize in working with women — particularly those navigating ADHD, burnout, emotional overwhelm, and the kind of life stress that quietly piles up until it isn't quiet anymore. If you've recently been diagnosed with ADHD (or have suspected it for years), I can help you untangle what that actually means for your life: what's the ADHD, what's anxiety, what's decades of compensating for a brain that nobody — including you — fully understood. My approach draws on structured, clear techniques. But before any framework, I focus on the relationship. Therapy works when there's real trust, and I don't skip that part. Clients often tell me that what they find most helpful is the perspective I bring — the reframe that makes something suddenly make sense. I ask the questions that shift things. I tell you what I actually think, kindly and honestly. I'm not here to just nod. I work best with clients who are motivated and ready to engage. You don't have to have it all figured out — but you do need to be willing to get curious about yourself. A note on fit: I genuinely believe that not every therapist is right for every person. If we connect and it doesn't feel like the right match, I'll give you names of therapists I trust. Finding the right fit is the goal — even if that's not me. If something on this profile felt like it was speaking to you, I'd encourage you to reach out. That's what the contact button is for.
