I’m Melissa Dotson, a Licensed Mental Health Counselor with extensive experience supporting adults with complex mental health and everyday life challenges. I began working in the mental health field in 2008, moved into a therapist role in 2010, and became independently licensed in 2016. I specialize in helping adults experiencing bipolar disorder, borderline personality disorder, serious mental illness, anxiety, depression, substance use concerns, emotional dysregulation, relationship difficulties, women’s issues, and challenges with daily functioning. Many of my clients feel overwhelmed, emotionally exhausted, stuck in unhealthy patterns, or uncertain about how to move forward. My therapeutic style is supportive, direct, collaborative, and nonjudgmental. I use evidence-based approaches, including Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Dialectical Behavior Therapy, Motivational Interviewing, solution-focused therapy, and trauma-informed care. Together, we identify unhelpful patterns, develop practical coping strategies, improve emotional stability, strengthen relationships, and work toward meaningful and lasting change. I also help clients develop essential life skills, including communication, decision-making, organization, budgeting, self-care, healthy boundaries, and maintaining daily routines. My goal is to help each client build greater stability, independence, confidence, and overall quality of life. Reaching out for help is not easy, especially when you have been carrying so much on your own. You do not have to navigate mental health concerns, substance use, emotional overwhelm, or relationship struggles alone. Therapy can provide a safe and supportive space for healing, personal growth, and practical change. When you are ready, I would be honored to support you on your journey.
